This painting, “Nature’s Map”, reminds me of how I like to add marks and “map” out my ideas and creativity, as part of my personality or “creative nature”. I am constantly inspired by mother nature and bright colours mixed with neutrals. As I was adding marks to this piece, I felt as though I was following a path in the outdoors or through the depths (deep blue hues) of the ocean. This reminds me both of a vast ocean full of life where finding a pathway can be impossible and magical, and also of a surface terrain and the symbolism of my creative “map” and “marks”, and true markings in mother nature. I love turquoise and this deep fuchsia violet hue that can be sometimes hard to achieve and interpret in my work. When I see this piece I feel happy, hopeful, energized and as though adventure awaits (both in the creative sense and the physical sense).
